AmigaOS 4.0 - About OS4 - Commands

WBRUN AmigaDOS
Purpose: To start applications in Workbench mode from a Shell window or script.
Format: WBRUN <program> [{<arguments>}] [SHOW ALL | ICONS] [VIEWBY NAME | DATE | ICON | SIZE | TYPE] [DELAY <delay>] [NOREQ]
Template: PROG/A, ARGS/M, SHOW/K, VIEWBY/K, DELAY/K/N, NOREQ/S
Path: C:WBRUN
WBRUN enables you to start applications in Workbench mode from a Shell window or script. It can also be used to open drawers.

<program> specifies the progran to start, or a drawer to open.

<arguments> specifies the parameters to use when running the specified <program>.

The SHOW option is only applicable to drawers, and if specified, will either show ALL files or only ICONS.

The VIEWBY option is only applicable to drawers, and if specified, will view files by NAME, DATE, ICON, SIZE, or TYPE.

The DELAY option specifies a time to wait (in seconds) before starting the program or opening the drawer. When used with multiple WBRUN requests, this option specifies the time between each execution of WBRUN.

The NOREQS option, when specified, suppresses all requesters.

Example 1:

3.OS4:> WBRUN example first last
runs program example passing two argument, 'first' and 'last'

Example 2:

3.OS4:> WBRUN C: SHOW=ALL VIEWBY=SIZE
opens the C: directory and shows ALL files in SIZE order

Example 3:

this example illustrates WBRUN running from a script using the DELAY option:

WBRUN Multiview
WAIT 5 SECS
WBRUN ICONEDIT DELAY 15
this will start Multiview, wait 5 seconds, and after 10 seconds IconEdit will be started. (10 = the delay of 15 seconds minus the 5 seconds of wait, because it takes it delay start from the previous execution of WBRUN).
