AmigaOS 4.0 - About OS4 - Commands

WAITFORPORT ARexx
Purpose: Waits for a specified ARexx port.
Format: WAITFORPORT <portname> [ [TIMEOUT] <seconds>]
Template: NAME/A, TIMEOUT/N
Path: C:WaitForPort
WaitForPort waits 10 seconds for the specified port to appear. A return code of 0 indicates the port was found. A return code of 5 indicates that the application is not currently running or that the port does not exist. Port names are case-sensitive.

You can choose how long WAITFORPORT should wait by using the TIMEOUT argument.

To stop WAITFORPORT waiting, use the BREAK command or hit the [Ctrl]+C combination while the shell window is active that belongs to the WAITFORPORT command.

Example 1:

3.OS4:> WAITFORPORT ED_1 waits for up to 10 seconds for the message port "ED_1" to appear.

Example 2:

3.OS4:> WAITFORPORT MyPort TIMEOUT 5 waits for up to 5 seconds for the message port "MyPort" to appear.
