AmigaOS 4.0 - About OS4 - Commands

Purpose: To start/restart/stop the USB file system.
USBCTRL is used to start/restart/stop the USB file system and identify and USB connected devices. Until this program is run following boot up, no USB devices will be recognised.

When adding or removing devices from the USB port, it is not necessary to close the USB file system or close the USB stack. AmigaDOS will automatically recognise when a device is removed and when it is reconnected, as long as the USB file system has been started.

Note: On A1-XE models, there was a manufacturing fault which affected many machines resulting in AmigaDOS being unable to recognise when a device was disconnedted and reconnected. It is therefore recommended that in order to overcome this fault, a powered hub should be connected to the machine's USB port and all devices connected to the hub instead. Using the hub, all devices then behave normally.

Example 1:

3.OS4:> USBCTRL START starts the USB file system.
