ASL invokes the ASL Preferences editor that enables you to set the default window size, position and sorting options
for all asl.library requesters.
ASL without any arguments or with the EDIT argument opens the ASL Preferences editor. The FROM argument <filename> enables you to specify a file to open. This must be a file that was previously saved with the 'Save As' menu item of the ASL Preferences editor. For example, if you have previously saved a special configuration of the ASL Preferences editor to a file in the Presets drawer, you can use the FROM argument to open that file. If the USE switch is also given, the ASL Preferences editor will not be opened, but the settings in the FROM file will be used. If the SAVE switch is given, the ASL Preferences editor will not open, but the settings in the FROM file will be saved. The PUBSCREEN option can be used to specify a <public screen name> where the ASL Preferences editor should open. If CREATEICONS YES is specified, an icon will be created for the saved file, otherwise no icon will be created. The SHOWHINTS YES option can be used to display usage information if you position the cursor over selectable items. The SCREEN option can be used to force the ASL Preferences editor to open in full-screen mode. The LEFT, TOP, WIDTH and HEIGHT options can be used to customise where the ASL Preferences editor window should appear on the screen and the size of the window. The FONTNAME and FONTSIZE options can be used to specify the font and font size to be used in the ASL Preferences editor window. Instructions for using the ASL Preferences editor can be found here.
