Billed as "the first true family computer", this machine was a variation of the A2000 which excluded the hard-drive
and hard disk controller card, but came with two floppy disk drives. Apart from that it was a standard A2000, which could be
easily upgraded by the addition of the hard-drive etc which most owners did within a relatively short time. However it was
sold bundled with lots of software including a wordprocessor, spreadsheet, database package (Platinum Works), Deluxe Paint,
Populous, SimCity, Their Finest Hour (flight sim) and Battle Chess.
"Commodore recognises the importance and growth of the family market and with the Amiga 1500 has developed a machine
that addresses the needs of all members of the family" said Steve Franklin, Managing Director of Commodore UK at that
time, "We predict that more than a quarter of a million homes will have an Amiga 1500 in the next four years."
