Amigas using the Initial Chip Set employed the three types of Amiga memory - Kickstart ROM, CHIP RAM and FAST RAM as follows:
| KICKSTART ROM |
The Kickstart ROM was 256K bytes when using the ICS chipset. All Amigas using the ICS chip set were supplied with
256K bytes of Kickstart ROM although early A1000's used RAM which had to be loaded at boot-up time.
|
| CHIP RAM |
Chip RAM was limited to 256K bytes when using the ICS chipset. All Amigas using the ICS chip set were supplied with
256K bytes of chip RAM and no fast ram.
|
| FAST RAM |
Fast RAM is an optional extra and is limited by the microprocessor chip, but since the A1000 only used the 68000
microprocessor, the memory limit was therefore 8M bytes.
