AmigaOne - Dual Booting from the Same Hard Drive

The purpose of this section is to describe the setup and installation required in order to dual boot AmigaOS and Linux from the same hard disk, and at boot time switch between them as required.

At this time, this option is only available with Debian Linux, and all other versions of Linux must be installed onto a separate hard disk.

Under pre-requisites we look at what you must have in place before you can install a dual-boot configuration on a single hard disk, and discuss where the necessary components can be obtained.

Install AmigaOS
AmigaOS 4.0 must be installed prior to installing Debian Linux, but it is good idea to plan for the dual boot environment before it is installed.

Preparing for Linux
Some preparation is required using AmigaOS 4.0 before Debian Linux can be installed, such as setting up the disk partitions for Linux and any other partitions that may be rerquired.

Installing Debian Linux
The installation process for Debian Linux has a number of subtle differences to performing a stand-alone install, so the procedures here are customised for this type of install.

Post Installation Processes
Once the basic installation process has been completed, there are still a few things that you need to do to cleanup and get everything working as expected.
