If you consider yourself a competent Linux user, this section is NOT for you. This section looks briefly at the various aspects of Linux that newcomers to it may not be familiar with, and attempts to guide them through the processes.

The section has been sub-divided under the following headings:

    - this section introduces some of basic aspects of Linux in preparation for the later topics.
  • Security
    - this section introduces Linux Security and why you have to be aware of how it works.
  • Directories
    - this section introduces the Linux File System and why you have to be aware of how it works.
  • Editing Files
    - this section introduces some of the text editors you may need to make changes to files.
  • Commands
    - this section introduces Linux Commands, where they live and what they do.
  • Miscellaneous
    - this section reviews some of the other things you might want to know about.
