AmigaOne - Linux - Installation

Debian (Woody) Linux
The AmigaOne installation CD for Debian 'Woody' which incorporated the 2.4.19 kernel was supplied with all new machines prior to the release of AmigaOS 4.0, and an updated version of this CD was later produced which incorporated the 2.4.26 kernel.

The AmigaOne Debian Woody Linux Install Guide that was prepared by Ross Vumbaca in 2003 is comprehensive and easy to follow but hasn't been updated to include the changes that have occurred with the AmigaOne since then. We have therefore reproduced a condensed version here that includes the appropriate modifications.

Debian (Sarge) Linux
At this time there is no AmigaOne installation CD for Debian 'Sarge', so this section covers how to upgrade from Woody to Sarge.

The Official Release Notes for Debian/GNU Linux 3.1 ("sarge"), PowerPC contains of the information necessary to perform the upgrade but it is very detailed and more relevant to the Macintosh. We have therefore reproduced a condensed version here that includes the appropriate modifications for the AmigaOne.

Debian Packages
Once Debian Linux has been installed, the next step will almost certainly be to add more packages to install software that is required to make your sound-card work properly, let you use your CD-ROM and DVD drives, printing and so on.

We have therefore prepared a section which discusses Debian packages and what packages we recommend you should install here especially for the AmigaOne.

SuSE Linux
We have the original SuSE install CDs and documentation which we will re-publish here later for anyone who might be interested.

Yellow Dog Linux
We also have the latest Yellow Dog install CDs and documentation which we will re-publish here later for anyone who might be interested. In the meantime you can check them out here.
